James has over 19 years customs and international trade consultancy experience. Before founding Global Customs Compliance, James held senior positions in the Customs & International Trade Groups of PwC, Ernst & Young and KPMG. Prior to joining the world of consultancy, he worked in industry heading British Telecommunications plc’s in-house Customs & International Trade Department; and before that held several posts in HM Customs & Excise.

James' customs and international trade experience covers the full range of customs and international trade case work, ranging from import and export procedures; customs valuation; preferential and non-preferential origin; the use of duty relief’s; tariff classification; customs warehousing; free zones; excise taxes; betting & gaming duties; trade finance; Incoterms; export and import licensing; intellectual property right protection; import/export systems; and international freight management.

James has worked on customs assignments throughout Europe; North America; and the Far East.

James is a member of the UK's Customs Practitioners Group. He is a Chartered Shipbroker and a graduate of both the Institute of Export; and the British International Freight Association. In addition, he has an IATA Air Cargo Diploma and is a Member of the Institute of Logistics and Transport.
